cpdnethelp.com

Has anybody had dealings with these people?
If not then read on, I joined a site called Naughty Free And Single (I know, I know). Anyway, I took the 3 day subscription, which in the blurb said that you could cancel after three days to stop them re-billing.
So I set up my account and sent my money (via debit card) on their site. The email came back saying that I had been successful and could start to use the site. This I did, found loads of scammers on there, a few of which I have posted on here. So just before my three days was up I cancelled my account to stop the rebilling. Well on receipt of my bank statement, I was bemused to find that they had taken two more payments after I had cancelled. So I went on the site and tried again to cancel. The message came back "your account has been cancelled". Um, strange why then had they taken two more payments? So I then googled the recipient on my account which was cpdnethelp.com and found a page that was entitled cash purchase search, there are various windows that allow you to search for your payment, cancel your payment, inform about unauthorised charges etc.
So I put a search in to see if my account was still active. I got the message we cannot find your account. Strange as they had taken the money. So I rang the number on the bottom of the page. Was put through to a foreign (asian, I think) call centre. Told them what had happened, the woman told me that there was no such account in my name or any related to my e-mail address. I said: " look my bank statement doesn't put random payments on just for the sake of it." Then she asked me what the transaction number was, "there isn't one, just your website address." She then tried to tell me what was on my statement (I was looking at it at the time) there must be a transaction number on there. To which I replied NO THERE ISN'T. By now I was getting a little bit peed off. So I told her that I wanted it sorted within 24 hours otherwise I would take things further.
After I spoke to the lady, I phone my bank and told them the scenario, they were very helpful and said they would look into it and get back to me with what they had found. But as the company had my card details they couldn't stop any more payments. The only way was to get a new card with a different number, so when they tried to take any more money, it would refuse.
Ok, I hear you all saying what has this got to do with scams, well look up the company on the web. They are excellent at taking unauthorised payments from peoples accounts. In my case it is only a small amount £4.12p, peanuts I know, but when I was reading the complaints, I was horrified, one guy lost $1000.
Google this cpdnethelp.com and then see what comes up. There are some disturbing reports.
It just goes to show that by just paying a subscription to a site you can get caught in a scam. BUYERS BEWARE.
Someone has even done a reverse IP search and there are 24 related sites.
Hope this is of some help to you all. I thought I would post this as a warning, DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH CPDNETHELP.COM "THEY ARE SCAMMERS".

This is quite typical. A lot of companies operate like that. Look at all these advertisements of "FREE TRAILS". They are all scam and work by the same pattern - they get your CC number, impossible to cancel, they will bill you to death.

Actually, this depends on your bank and how they handle such cases. With my bank, you put the charge in dispute and they always refund the money (take it away from seller), cancel your card and send a new one.

Thanks Marisa, I'm hoping that is what the bank is going to do. They have put the payment in dispute, so that's a start, am expecting a call or some form of contact soon from the bank.

I-recently had to change my card for a new one for the same issue. Marisa is right. There are many companies who take small payments and never deliver the goods or get out of your account. It's their business model. I recently did a search on one that ripped me off for only $5 (a cell phone ap). I was closing my account anyway (another had nicked me for $500 that my bank got back), so we let that little one ride. But as I was researching, I came across a list with thousands of complaints about the same thing. I took the time to add up the dollar amount of the complaints. That little company that stole my $5, had over $250,000 in complaints last year. I'll bet you not many customers pursued their $5. What a job!

Thanks folks for your help. I have contacted my bank and told them of the problem. Haven't heard anything yet. I have also sent an e-mail to cupidbill requesting my money back. They say they haven't got a record of the payment and want to see my bank statement. YEAH RIGHT! Like I'm gonna send my statement to someone who has ripped me off already. So I have now threatened them with the Fraud Squad and with plastering their company all over the TV and nationals. Don't know if it will work but worth a try.
Incidentally I did a read notify on them and the IP comes from, suprise, suprise, Russia. Even though the website gives an address in Edinburgh, Scotland. They even have an 0800 number for complaints. Another thing I have found out is that the singles site and the payment site are at the same address, coincidental or what?
I'll keep you posted as to how things go.

Update on this scam company. After a couple of phone calls and a few e-mails they have finally conceded, well I hope so. Here is a copy of their recent e-mail

Thank you for contacting Customer Service.
We do apologize for any inconvenience. We have refunded your payment as you requested and it will be delivered to your bank account within 10 working days. If it takes longer then please do not hesitate to contact us.

I wonder if my telling them that I have reported them to the fraud squad, OFt and Trading Standards has anything to do with it?

I shall be checking my bank account to see if they really do refund my money or if they are just trying to fob me off.

Stay tuned.

Well, true to their word, they have refunded my money and well within the time limit. Don't know whether my bank had anything to do with it. Or maybe the fact that I told cpd that I had informed the fraud squad, OFT and Trading Standards made them get their act together and refund.

Just a note to others: Please beware of this company cpdnethelp.com (cupid.com) they are scammers.
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO ANY OF THEIR SITES. Check out the link to see what companies they work with.

On the bottom of their page there is a statement:

A Note on Chargebacks and Fraudulent Transactions:

All chargebacks are thoroughly investigated and may add you to a blacklist with our processor which will complicate future online purchases. Denying a purchase that you have made is illegal and will result in an investigation which can lead to heavy fines or other legal action toward you. Your credit rating can be affected by false claims of fraud. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us to clarify the matter.

I don't think that this statement would stand up legally, it is them that make the fraudulent transactions.
