Nigerian delegation sign an understanding with Western Australian Police to combat international scammers.

A delegation from a Nigerian law enforcement agency has arrived in Perth to work with West Australian authorities in trying to combat international scammers.
There has been a surge in scams originating from West Africa with police figures showing more than 1 million dollars is being fleeced from West Australians every month.
The delegation, which includes the Commissioner of the Nigeria Police, Ibrahim Lamorde, signed a memorandum of understanding with WA Police today, the 16th Dec 2013. It is unknown how long the understanding will last or what the time frame will be? From what I understand, a memorandum of understanding has no legal implication or the parties cannot create a legally enforceable agreement. Being like a gentlemen's agreement has one advantage in that no parliamentary approval is needed, from how I understand it.
Mr Lamorde is also the chairman of Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Early in Twenty 14, several Nigerian police officers will be embedded with investigators from WA's Major Fraud Squad and trained on techniques to identify scams.
